Resuscitation Specialist

Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and clinically focused individual to join its esteemed Resuscitation Service. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality training programs, providing clinical expertise, and contributing to the development of resuscitation policies.
Main Responsibilities- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs in resuscitation practices to clinical practitioners, ensuring they are equipped to provide the best possible care.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify areas for improvement in resuscitation training and equipment, providing accurate information to inform decision-making.
- Lead trust-wide audits of resuscitation training, cardiac arrests, and equipment to highlight opportunities for service enhancement.
- Collaborate with the Resuscitation Committee and Lead Resuscitation Officer to develop resuscitation-related policies and procedures.
- Raise awareness of resuscitation issues among all staff caring for patients within the Trust.
- Provide clinical expertise and support to the clinical emergency team, leading the team as necessary to ensure best evidence-based practice and patient outcomes.
- Offer professional advice on resuscitation attempts, policy development, and clinical governance issues, in conjunction with the Lead Resuscitation Officer and Resuscitation Committee.
- Debrief staff and relatives following resuscitation attempts, providing emotional support and guidance.
- Ensure members of the cardiac arrest team are fully conversant and competent in advanced resuscitation techniques.
- Attend resuscitation attempts, supporting and facilitating the team, and debriefing as necessary.
- Maintain and develop clinical skills, credibility, and expertise by working clinically in appropriate practice areas, with due regard to service priorities and needs.
- Participate in the development and delivery of innovative resuscitation training programs for all levels of staff, as delegated by the Lead Resuscitation Officer.
- Deliver training in various settings, covering most clinical areas and environments, as dictated by the development strategy, training needs, and risk assessments.
- Plan and coordinate the development and delivery of nationally accredited courses in resuscitation, as delegated by the Lead Resuscitation Officer.
- Maintain national instructor status by adhering to the code of conduct, attending national instructor events, and teaching on courses within and outside the Trust.
- Ensure all resuscitation training is based on the latest evidence base and adheres to European and Trust guidelines for resuscitation.
- Organize and plan own workload effectively, prioritizing tasks and managing time efficiently.
- Act as an effective role model to colleagues and other members of staff, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Provide the Resuscitation Committee and Lead Resuscitation Officer with a clear strategy for delivering own projects, ensuring timely completion and effective implementation.
- Maintain own professional development, taking opportunities to enhance clinical, educational, and managerial competence, utilizing local resources and clinical networks.
Accurate records of all training delivered will be kept in liaison with the Resuscitation Services Administrator. The successful candidate will adhere to and assist with the development and implementation of the Resuscitation Service's mission statement and philosophy. They will also be willing to undertake duties required during a designated major incident, as detailed on the appropriate action card.
