Resuscitation Service Opportunity

Whittington Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and clinically focused individual to join its esteemed resuscitation service. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering training programs, leading clinical emergency responses, and providing expertise to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs in resuscitation practices to clinical practitioners, ensuring they are equipped to perform effectively and improve patient care.
  2. Conduct risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and provide accurate information to the Trust and Lead Resuscitation Officer.
  3. Undertake trust-wide audits of resuscitation training, cardiac arrests, and equipment to highlight areas for service enhancement.
  4. Collaborate with the resuscitation committee and Lead Resuscitation Officer to develop resuscitation-related policies.
  5. Raise awareness of resuscitation issues among all staff caring for patients within the Trust.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  1. Provide clinical expertise and support to the clinical emergency team, leading them under supervision to ensure best evidenced-based practice and patient outcomes.
  2. Offer professional advice as needed, in conjunction with the Lead Resuscitation Officer, Senior Resuscitation Officer, and Resuscitation Committee.
  3. Debrief staff and relatives following resuscitation attempts, providing emotional support and guidance.
  4. Ensure members of the cardiac arrest team are fully conversant and competent in advanced resuscitation techniques.
  5. Attend resuscitation attempts, supporting, facilitating, and debriefing the team and family as appropriate.
  6. Maintain and develop clinical skills, credibility, and expertise by working clinically in appropriate practice areas, with due regard to service priorities and needs.
Educational Responsibilities:
  1. Participate in the development and delivery of innovative resuscitation training programs for all levels of staff, as delegated by the Lead Resuscitation Officer.
  2. Deliver training in various settings, covering most clinical areas and environments, as dictated by the development strategy, training needs, and risk assessments.
  3. Plan and coordinate the development and delivery of nationally accredited courses in resuscitation, as delegated by the Lead Resuscitation Officer.
  4. Maintain national instructor status by adhering to the code of conduct, attending national instructor events, and teaching on courses within the Trust, other Trusts, and educational institutions.
  5. Ensure all resuscitation training is based on the latest evidence base and adheres to European and Trust guidelines for resuscitation.
Self-Management:
  1. Organize and plan own workload effectively.
  2. Act as an effective role model to colleagues and other members of staff.
  3. Provide the Resuscitation Committee and Lead Resuscitation Officer with a clear strategy for delivering own projects and complete by designated deadlines.
  4. Maintain own professional development and take every opportunity to further own clinical, educational, and managerial level of competence, utilizing local resources and through clinical networks.

Accurate records of all training delivered will be kept in liaison with the Resuscitation Services Administrator. The successful candidate will adhere to and assist with the development and implementation of the mission statement and philosophy of the resuscitation service with regards to resuscitation. They will also be willing to undertake duties required during a designated major incident, as detailed on the appropriate action card in the hospital or at the scene.
