About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative team at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing design solutions using AutoCAD / Inventor and directing engineers/designers in the production of complex design solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement design solutions using AutoCAD / Inventor, ensuring compliance with relevant internal and client procedures.
  • Direct engineers/designers in the production of complex design solutions, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Produce and check technical documents, including Basis of Design, Testing Strategies/Schedules, and Method Statements.
  • Take ownership of design deliverables throughout the design, construction, installation, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning phases of a project.
  • Present technical solutions to clients and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support the development of project safety cases, including HAZID and HAZOP attendance, and production of basis of safety documents.
  • Develop estimates, deliverables, and programme logic at bid/tender stage, providing input into cost to complete.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers/designers to deliver the engineering scope and enhance the company's capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations.
Requirements
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the UK without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Chartered Member of the IMechE (preferred).
  • Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes, and directives, and how they should be applied.
  • Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment.
  • Detail design knowledge of mechanical mechanisms or bespoke equipment for Nuclear use.
  • Knowledge of relevant drawing standards BS8888, BS5070, and BS EN 61082.
