Role Summary:

The Senior Specialist in Information Security Controls will operate within the EMEA Regional Information Security Office, based in Chester, and will report to the Regional Information Security COO & Risk Lead.

This position serves as a senior authority on information security risks, collaborating with the COO & Risk Lead to define, implement, and advance the overall risk strategy, ensuring alignment with information security priorities.

To accomplish this, the specialist will engage with the regional risk team and broader regional and global information security functions as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer expert advice and oversight on information security risks, acting as a trusted consultant to senior management and country information security officers.
  • Stay informed on the evolving landscape of cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, developing suitable risk management and governance solutions.
  • Oversee the risk identification and intake process for the region, ensuring risks and issues are effectively prioritized and addressed.
  • Evaluate and discuss risks in a regional context, considering market and regulatory differences.
  • Lead or participate in regular assessments and tabletop exercises to keep processes up to date.
  • Collaborate with regional and global Information Security teams to prevent, detect, mitigate, and respond to information security challenges.
  • Work closely with technology groups to ensure timely communication of information security risks and necessary remedial actions.
  • Promote security awareness initiatives in the region based on the current risk and threat landscape.
Qualifications:
  • Expertise in information security, including application security, vulnerability assessments, and risk appetite metrics, with a solid understanding of cybersecurity controls.
  • Extensive experience in risk management, demonstrating the ability to apply risk principles effectively in complex business scenarios.
  • Proven track record in establishing scalable processes for governance, risk assessment, and assurance.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with strong influencing and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience in data visualization and storytelling for executive audiences.
  • Practical knowledge of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework or similar frameworks and their implementation.
  • Current risk management experience within UK and EU regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to convey messages clearly across a diverse audience with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Leadership qualities that facilitate collaboration with peers and management at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant information security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent.
