Job Role/Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing confidential financial and administrative support to our finance team, including:

  • Assisting with the day-to-day administration of devolved budgets, financial estimates, and general financial matters.
  • Preparing requested management information, monthly reports, and statistics.
  • Researching, extracting, manipulating, and analyzing data to assist in the compilation of comprehensive management reports and audits.
  • Placing orders for goods/services via our finance system, ensuring delivery where required.
  • Checking and scrutinizing delivery notes, receipting goods, and coding relevant invoices and inputting onto the finance system for payment.
  • Raising invoices by checking and calculating payment and forwarding to appropriate forces, partners, and external agencies.
  • Maintaining and reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and cash accounts, including monitoring bank accounts and processing urgent payments.
  • Analysis and reconciliation of credit card expenditure and processing of appropriate recharges onto the finance system.
  • Maintaining stationery stock and ordering replenishments to ensure minimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Processing police and police staff overtime, expenses, and mileage claims, checking to ensure they are correctly completed, properly authorized, and coded in accordance with regulations and pre-determined monthly deadlines.
  • Providing advice and support in the resolution of financial queries, including relating to overtime, enhanced pay, unsocial hours, travel, and expenses, in accordance with organizational policy and legislative compliance.
Essential Criteria:
  • Hold GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent in mathematics and English Language, or have relevant work experience of working to that standard.
  • A working knowledge of managing Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and databases, with the ability to present information in a concise, accurate manner.
  • The ability to assess new information and reorganize to meet changing priorities and new work streams.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with people of all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • The ability to manage customer expectations.
  • Be able to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
  • A pro-active and flexible approach to working under tight deadlines and responding to changes at short notice.
  • Proficient in general administration and customer service.
