Job Description

Job Title: Head of Mechanical Engineering

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £90-110K with attractive benefits package including flexible working, an early finish on Fridays, private healthcare, bonus, pension, dental plan, life assurance and the opportunity to work for a highly respected Cambridge business.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Head of Mechanical Engineering to lead our mechanical engineering team in delivering projects with an eye for continuous improvement. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving technical direction in multi-disciplinary engineering teams and leading a department of 15 Engineers, including a Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team to deliver projects with an eye for continuous improvement.
  • Drive technical direction in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Proven leadership background in a complex mechanical engineering product development environment.
  • Ability to drive technical direction in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strengths in motivational leadership in a fast-paced collaborative cross-functional engineering environment.
  • Consumer electro-mechanical based product development experience (mobile devices advantageous).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems & manufacturing processes & project management skills.
  • Sound knowledge of plastic injection moulding techniques and low cost manufacturing.
  • Mid to high volume manufacturing knowledge.
