Role Overview
As a Senior Lecturer, you will take on a leadership role in the specialized area of Performance Arts, supporting the Course Leader in delivering an engaging curriculum. This position places students at the forefront of our educational practices. As a representative of the institution, you will provide expert instruction and mentorship to students. Furthermore, you will be accountable for promoting high levels of student engagement, ensuring educational quality and standards, achieving successful student outcomes, and fostering equitable access and participation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruction and Module Leadership: Deliver lectures, lead modules, ensure effective course delivery, and oversee quality assurance and enhancement processes.
• Digital Advancement: Spearhead digital innovation initiatives within your discipline.
• Evaluation and Support: Assess and moderate student submissions, assist the Course Leader in evaluation processes, and guide students in understanding assessment criteria and academic integrity.
• Academic and Personal Guidance: Serve as an Academic Advisor, offering both academic and personal support to students.
• Enhancing Student Experience: Collaborate with the Course Leader to improve the student learning experience, contribute to curriculum development, and advise on lecturer recruitment and performance management.
• Student Recruitment and Advocacy: Assist in student recruitment initiatives and represent your discipline in governance and quality assurance forums.
• Professional Growth: Participate in professional development, scholarly activities, and research as appropriate.
• Collaboration: Partner with the Deputy Provost and other members of the leadership team on strategic initiatives and work with student experience departments to promote well-being and drive successful student outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
•Extensive experience and a notable profile within the relevant sector of the creative industries.
•A relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent higher education qualification, along with a teaching qualification pertinent to higher education or a Fellowship of Advance HE (or a commitment to obtain this within the first two years of employment).
•Experience in developing initiatives to boost student engagement and participation, as well as providing academic and personal support.
•Demonstrated experience in effective and innovative curriculum and teaching development activities.
•Understanding of quality assurance and standards in higher education and creative arts contexts.
•Proven ability to enhance teaching quality and achieve successful student outcomes.
•Experience in implementing institutional policies and processes at the discipline level.
•Ability to leverage data to improve student outcomes.
•Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the capacity to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
