Job Summary

We are seeking a Casual Waste Service Operative to assist and advise the public at various Recycling Centre locations in Dumfries and Galloway. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximising recycling, handling waste, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise the public on recycling procedures and practices
  • Handle and manage waste in accordance with site procedures and regulations
  • Keep the Recycling Centre free from litter and debris
  • Work in accordance with all site procedures, licenses, and site rules
  • Assist with duties at Transfer Stations as required

Requirements

  • Standard Grade education or equivalent
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Desirable experience in waste management, building, or a related industry
  • Desirable experience in customer service

Working Arrangements

  • Casual post to cover absent staff (holiday, sickness, training etc.)
  • Current driving license desirable, but consideration will be given to alternative transport arrangements for candidates with disabilities
  • Subject to candidate vetting through Disclosure Scotland
