About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Shift Leader at our manufacturing facility. This site specializes in producing chilled Italian ready meals and pasta salads, employing over 700 individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily priorities and plans, motivating and directing the engineering shift team as necessary.
  • Manage the engineering team, including contractors, to ensure the timely completion of scheduled and reactive work, optimizing plant availability.
  • Implement training and development plans to meet both engineering and production requirements while adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Minimize engineering downtime, accurately log incidents, and monitor repair times in collaboration with planning and operations teams.
  • Communicate effectively with Production Shift Managers and relevant team leaders regarding breakdown statuses and resolution timelines.
  • Ensure proper logging of stock in and out of the stores area, addressing any stock discrepancies with the engineering team manager.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping in line with quality food manufacturing practices.
  • Act as the engineering point of contact during and outside of working hours.
  • Prioritize and respond to shift issues to resolve production line challenges.
  • Complete any additional management requests consistent with the role.

About You:
  • Completion of an Engineering or Mechanical Apprenticeship (City & Guilds and National Certificate).
  • Strong fault-finding skills.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis and the 5 Whys.
  • Experience with machine controls and PLCs.
  • Practical mechanical and electrical experience in a production environment, preferably within food manufacturing.
  • Understanding of production prioritization is desirable.
