This position is designed for a skilled individual with diverse capabilities and a passion for delivering exceptional nursing services to join our esteemed organization, recognized as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK.
Our strategy emphasizes equitable service delivery and the development of a resilient workforce equipped with the right skills, in the right locations, at the right times. The ideal candidate will be innovative and capable of providing specialized educational programs tailored for various staff disciplines, client groups, and caregivers concerning chemotherapy, while also supporting the Cancer Strategy of our Trust.
The Oncology Nurse Specialist role will be integrated within the Corporate Cancer Services team, necessitating the ability to operate at a strategic level and an understanding of future advancements in chemotherapy services.
Given the dual nature of our services for both pediatric and adult chemotherapy, we encourage applications from nurses with backgrounds in either adult or pediatric care.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate education and training for registered nursing personnel across the Trust regarding chemotherapy administration in all clinical settings.
- Ensure that nursing staff involved in chemotherapy administration are supported in achieving the required competencies to maintain safe, high-quality, and effective practices.
- Provide specialized knowledge and guidance, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the identification, assessment, treatment, and management of chemotherapy for both adult and pediatric patients within the Trust.
- Lead and coordinate the educational initiatives for nursing staff across the organization concerning chemotherapy administration.
- Advocate for service development and innovation to assist teams in enhancing and advancing the chemotherapy services offered by the Trust.
