Assistant Purchasing Manager

Reed is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a crucial role in guiding the team to meet company and project goals.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Purchasing Manager in developing and implementing procurement strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution and timely delivery.
  • Select and manage suppliers to meet business needs, focusing on cost improvement and quality.
  • Develop and maintain commodity strategies aligned with business goals, ensuring optimal commercial terms.
  • Mentor team members and assist in strategy creation, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Support engineering change management for supplied components and materials, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement processes for supplier quality, cost, innovation, delivery, and management.
  • Address quality issues with suppliers, working closely with the quality engineer to resolve issues.
  • Maintain the Purchasing database, including expenditures, budgets, and supplier information, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Coordinate stakeholder activities to achieve business improvement objectives, fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and develop SAP functions related to suppliers and commodities, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
Requirements:
  • Manufacturing sector experience, with a preference for automotive experience (OEM/Tier 1)
  • CIPS membership or relevant business qualification desirable
  • Proficient in cost improvement techniques and able to analyze data to inform procurement decisions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders
