We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial SME Underwriter to join our team at Superscript, a leading Insurtech company in the UK. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, analyzing, and approving insurance applications for Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate and analyze insurance applications from SMEs to determine the risk level and appropriate premium pricing.
- Underwrite new and renewal SME commercial insurance policies in line with company guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Approve or decline insurance applications based on risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, and company policy.
- Communicate with sales teams to gather necessary information, clarify details, and explain underwriting decisions.
- Monitor and manage the performance of the SME insurance portfolio to ensure profitability and growth.
- Collaborate with the product team to create or modify insurance products tailored to the SME market.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Commercial SME Underwriter who possesses the following skills and qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in commercial underwriting, preferably within the UK SME market.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex underwriting decisions clearly and effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data analysis.
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on meeting the needs of clients while balancing profitability.
- Possession of their Cert CII qualification.
