Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with a secondary pupil referral unit (PRU) in the Chorley area who require a Level 3 teaching assistant to support the learning of a student with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) on a 1:1 basis.

About the Role:

The school provides an educational setting for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education, and offer a nurturing and restorative environment to rehabilitate students and improve behaviour and learning.

The successful applicant for this teaching assistant role will be working closely with a Year 11 student who demonstrates challenging behaviour and requires 1:1 support to keep him engaged. The student also struggles with anxiety and mental health issues and therefore requires a dynamic and positive role model to promote engagement and learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEMH difficulties
  • Work closely with the student to develop strategies to improve behaviour and learning
  • Support the student in a gymnasium setting south of Chorley on Thursdays and Fridays
  • Have access to your own transport or be based locally in the South Ribble area and able to take public transport
Requirements:
  • A passion for working with children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
