About the Role

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Support Worker to join our team in a children's residential service in Smethwick. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age.
  • Maintain a homely and friendly culture and environment in the homes.
  • Deal with challenging behaviours when necessary.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's lives.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Residential Support Worker or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable.
  • A full UK driver's licence and a car are required for transporting young people.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children & Young People is desirable.
  • You must be able to commute to Smethwick.
