Financial Operations Assistant

The purpose of this role is to provide financial support to the team, ensuring that suppliers are paid correctly and on time, and that financial records accurately reflect all transactions. This will involve working closely with the team manager and other stakeholders to achieve this goal.
This role will be part of a dynamic team of 9 people across the Support Centres in Redditch, and the department is constantly evolving. As such, the purpose of the role may change over time, potentially shifting towards greater reporting and analysis rather than document processing.
Key Responsibilities- Build strong commercial relationships with suppliers to avoid service disruptions.
- Process purchase invoices against purchase orders.
- Raise discrepancies with suppliers.
- Resolve PO queries to push invoices through the system for payment.
- Reconcile supplier statements monthly and investigate any spurious balances.
- Provide Ops teams with garage invoice matching data to aid query resolution and drive compliance across the estate.
- Liaise with garage colleagues and other key stakeholders to assist with queries.
- Process payments and allocations, including BACS and DD.
- Resolve payment queries.
- Investigate historic balances across the ledger.
- Support the assigned Team Leader with Continuous Improvement activities and drive best practice.
- Address ad-hoc audit queries related to suppliers.
You must possess a keen eye for detail, as the role requires a high level of accuracy.
Proficiency in Excel is essential.
SAP knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory.
Previous Accounts Payable experience, preferably with invoice matching experience and dealing with purchase orders, is required.
You must be self-motivated and able to work to deadlines.
A flexible approach to work and the ability to juggle priorities are essential.
Excellent organisational skills are required.
Strong communication skills, particularly with key stakeholders, are necessary.
