We are seeking an experienced Animal Nutritionist to join our team, playing a critical role in developing new and existing nutritionally balanced pet food products.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Creating technical dossiers to support existing and new marketing claims across our range of products.
- Conducting research and presenting key pet nutritional and health trends/concerns to our development and marketing teams.
- Managing nutritional testing and recipe modifications to ensure nutritional and regulatory compliance.
- Building relationships with ingredient suppliers and providing insight on innovative ingredients with potential nutritional and health benefits.
- Formulating recipes and conducting production trials for new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD) projects.
- Assisting with understanding FEDIAF, VMD, and ASA labelling claims, as well as PARNUTS for medicinal claims.
- Creating tailored nutritional feeding plans to support weight loss for dogs.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
- Supporting the creation of social media and communications guidelines for all brands, providing advice on product claims and Q&A's.
- Researching, writing, and editing nutritional blogs, articles, and assisting with press releases.
- Providing input and approving pack copy documents and artworks from nutritional and labelling compliance.
- Attending events, trade shows, exhibitions, or trend seminars and presenting back findings.
- Leading change projects if nutritional changes are required.
- Auditing our products' recipes and pack communications against competitors and contributing to sell-in materials.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for:
- Providing training and education for staff and trade customers/vets.
- Presenting at conferences/events where required.
- Providing nutritional support to consumers as our in-house nutritionist via email, social media, or telephone.
- Assisting the Customer Service team with queries relating to Shopify, subscriptions, product enquiries, and complaints/concerns.
- Assisting with quality control queries.
- Providing support for complaints relating to digestive problems to establish if there is a nutritional reason.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Animal Nutrition.
- A proven track record of developing and launching successful pet food products.
- A deep understanding of animal physiology, nutritional needs, and ingredient functionalities.
- Analytical and research skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to be self-sufficient as well as work collaboratively with teams.
