About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sustainability Manager to join our team at Red Sky Personnel. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in driving our environmental sustainability initiatives and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Management System (EMS) Development and Implementation

Develop, own, administer, and implement the Airport Company's ISO 14001 aligned EMS, including coordination of Airport Environment Instructions and Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register.

Internal Environmental Audits and Compliance

Coordinate and carry out internal environmental audits, conduct environmental incident investigations, and assist and advise other Airport Company departments and third parties to ensure continued environmental legal compliance and best practice.

Sustainability and Environmental Policy Development

Develop and coordinate sustainability and environmental policies and procedures, ensuring continual environmental improvement.

Legislative Review and Compliance

Review environmental legislation and maintain the Airport Company's legal register for sustainability and environmental legislation.

Technical Advice and Support

Provide technical advice across the Airport Company on Sustainability Strategy areas and environmental issues, including aviation noise, ecology and biodiversity, water management, waste, local air quality, climate change adaptation, and environmental permitting.

Performance Reporting and Analysis

Develop and prepare meaningful KPIs, reporting tools, and trend analysis to inform production of sustainability-related statistics and monthly performance reports for, including information for MI pack, Board Reports, and Community Reports.

Environmental Impact Assessments and Investigations

Coordinate environmental and noise impact assessments and pollution/environmental incident investigations for projects or incidents as required.

Financial Management and Contract Administration

Manage significant budgets and third-party contracts as required.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

Coordinate with other Airport Company departments and be the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency, STW, Defra, DfT, and CAA, on issues related to air quality, ecology, noise, waste, and water protection.

Leadership and Collaboration

Chair meetings with internal and external stakeholders and regulators, including the Environmental Management Review Group and HEELMP Steering Group.

Community Engagement and Education

Make presentations to community groups and other organizations on the Airport's impact on the local environment and participate in internal and external environmental working groups and parties concerning environmental management.

Team Leadership and Development

Line-manage the Sustainability Assistant Role, facilitating the role holder to meet yearly objectives and continue to be integrated into the business.

Business Ambassadors

Be a credible and effective ambassador for the business.

Requirements
  • A degree in an environmental discipline and experience in a sustainability/environmental role is essential.
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • A practitioner or full member of a relevant environmental body is desirable.
  • Experience of working with ISO 14001.
  • Experience of environmental monitoring and auditing, including compliance investigations, reporting, and presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, energy, and environmental legislation.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities at once.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with a range of stakeholders while prioritizing conflicting demands.
  • Strong analytical and IT skills: experience of MS Excel (essential).
  • Ideas-driven and 'can-do' approach.
