The Team

KPMG's Cloud practice is a dynamic and expanding group of consultants dedicated to transforming how clients deliver technology services to their business stakeholders. We assist some of the UK's largest and most intricate organisations in:
Crafting strategies for cloud adoption and integration with modernised on-premises capabilities. Establishing operating models, architectures, and capabilities to extract value from Cloud and Hybrid platforms. Ensuring effective and cost-efficient operation of cloud or hybrid environments over the long term.We seek Hybrid Platform Architects who are adept at advising senior leaders and client technologists across our diverse client base, particularly within our established Defence Consulting team.

The National Security sector is a key priority for KPMG, identified for significant growth in the coming years. This role is expected to play a pivotal part in that expansion.
The Role

Enterprises embarking on their cloud journey often anticipate a simplification of their environments. However, many find that cloud adoption introduces additional technologies and complexities, leading to divergent operating models and fragmented business processes across multiple tech stacks.

The platform architect must navigate this complexity, leveraging both legacy and modern technologies along with hybrid processes that cater to both traditional and new platform environments. A comprehensive understanding of the traditional enterprise landscape, coupled with a deep appreciation of major cloud platforms and their respective opportunities and challenges, is essential.

Required Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

We are looking for enthusiastic technical leaders who can effectively communicate and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, create compelling transformation journeys, and play a crucial role in their execution. You will have demonstrated experience in guiding clients through technology-enabled changes that yield value, security, agility, and efficiency. As a trusted cloud technologist, you will be responsible for articulating the overall technical vision to business leaders and progressively detailing how the enterprise can implement a viable solution.

Proven experience in developing enterprise-level technology strategies and contributing to the associated programs of work. Experience in delivering complex, large-scale architectural solutions in cloud or hybrid environments, including the integration of cloud platforms into the broader enterprise. Ability to create a coherent operating environment at the enterprise level without oversimplifying capabilities. Understanding the significance of enterprise management information for long-term decision-making and real-time observability for operations. Strong knowledge of traditional platform delivery methods, technologies, and operational models, along with a thorough understanding of the capabilities of major cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, AWS). Ability to balance trade-offs between 'one size fits all' and 'landing zone specific' solutions. Familiarity with different operating models associated with both legacy and cloud environments, contributing to operational model design and implementation. Capability to manage technical reviews and assessments of cloud strategies, roadmaps, data models, integration, and migration tools. A collaborative team player who thrives in a diverse culture, inspiring and motivating others. Ideally, you will hold recognized industry qualifications relevant to your role and seniority.You should be both a practitioner and a theorist, passionate about technology while thriving in multidisciplinary teams. You must be credible in front of both clients and colleagues, acting as a source of support throughout the transformation journey, building relationships, and ensuring the successful implementation of significant changes.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Manager, you will be expected to:

Provide credible and insightful thought leadership based on real-world experience. Design and develop cloud/technology roadmaps, implementation strategies, transformation plans, and high-level architectures. Offer impartial assessments of cloud strategies and vendor technology proposals. Provide comprehensive insights across various technology areas, including integration and hybrid hosting scenarios. Contribute to the growth of KPMG's Cloud and Defence Consulting practices. Collaborate with colleagues to maximize the use of our collective knowledge and experience. Share knowledge through coaching and advising peers. Build strong relationships with client stakeholders to understand their business challenges and identify commercial opportunities for KPMG. Base Location
The role may be based at any of our UK offices, with an expectation of on-site presence a few days a week when not engaged with clients. However, client requirements may necessitate a significant on-site presence depending on project demands. Travel within the UK may be required.
