About the Role

As a Traffic and Travel Technician with Powys County Council, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving highway safety infrastructure to ensure traffic moves safely and efficiently around the network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Council's Traffic Management responsibilities under the direction of the Area Traffic Officer.
  • Design, calculate, draw, estimate, report, risk assess, and survey traffic-related projects.
  • Provide advice and support in the development of bespoke design solutions.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills in engineering design solutions during the design period and on-site works.
  • Manage and maintain the Authority's Road Traffic collision database, liaising with the Police Force as necessary.
  • Create and maintain other traffic-related databases and mapping systems.
  • Collect, interrogate, analyze, and report on injury road traffic collisions or other traffic data.
  • Ensure quality data is produced and verified to ensure accuracy and appropriate payments are received where chargeable.
  • Process Traffic Regulation Orders efficiently and effectively in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with the general public, statutory bodies, and other authorities on traffic-related matters.
Requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work on one's own initiative and prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Computer skills in various systems, including GIS and AutoCAD.
  • Detailed report writing.
  • Investigation techniques.
  • Good analytical skills.
