Embedded Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Design Engineer to join our team at Computer Futures. As an Embedded Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and support of electronic hardware and firmware solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the embedded design function and ensure projects are delivered on time, on specification, and are fit for purpose.
  • Design authority for all PCB and firmware solutions, working closely with the Applications Engineering team and Software development team.
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge and expertise in the field of embedded design and controls.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to ensure projects meet the required standards and are delivered efficiently.
Requirements:
  • High level of competence in Altium and similar design systems (PCB schematic design, layout, and library management).
  • Strong hardware design capabilities, with a particular aptitude to power electronics and integration with other machine systems.
  • Strong competence in other beneficial languages/tools for data processing, visualisation, and analysis (e.g., Python, SQL).
  • PCB test rig and process design.
  • Soldering of PTH & SMD devices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically competent with MS Excel and/or other data processing tools.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • DFM/DFA (design for manufacture/design for assembly), VA/VE, FMEA.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and an understanding of mechanical design principles.
