The Role: Group Tax and Projects Accountant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Tax and Projects Accountant to join our team in Nuneaton. This is a 3-month fixed-term contract offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial success of GRS Group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Group Tax Compliance:
    • Prepare and submit PAYE settlement agreements, focusing on data accuracy and improvement.
    • Manage VAT returns, ensuring timely submissions and resolving queries with transactional teams.
    • Conduct Corporation Tax computations using OneSource Tax Software, preparing supporting schedules and data.
    • Collect information from group companies to ensure accurate CT600 returns.
    • Assess and submit CIR returns.
    • Liaise with external tax advisors, addressing queries and incorporating feedback.
    • Ensure compliance with IR35 regulations, including contract assessments.
    • Maintain and update the tax risk register.
    • Manage import records and maintain relationships with relevant agents.
    • Prepare management summaries and updates on tax control progress.
    • Support SAO with reporting requirements.
    • Calculate quarterly corporation tax payments.
    • Review capital allowances, ensuring accurate claims and supporting documentation.
  • Leases:
    • Update the lease database, enhancing data capture accuracy.
    • Prepare lease records for future changes in FRS102.
    • Develop lease payment forecasts and integrate them into cash flow projections.
  • Insurance:
    • Gather and prepare data for insurance renewals, including schedule updates.
    • Improve the allocation process and explore automation opportunities.
  • Ad-hoc Projects:
    • Provide support to Group Financial Controller on various projects as required.
    • Stay abreast of tax changes impacting the business and provide training to finance and other departments accordingly.
    • Prepare reports and analyses as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA).
  • Significant experience in tax compliance, particularly within a corporate environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software (e.g., OneSource Tax).
