The Role

We are seeking dedicated and passionate support workers to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities through:

  • Assisting with daily living activities and providing day-to-day support to meet individualized goals, including general housework, personal hygiene, cooking, and other tasks.
  • Supporting individuals to access community events, services, and social outings, as well as providing transportation.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including submitting progress notes and incident reports as necessary.
  • Providing support in a manner that is consistent, encouraging, and motivating individuals to meet their goals and develop independent skills through person-centered practices.
  • Promoting a stimulating, caring, and culturally appropriate environment for individuals.
  • Providing self-care, social, and emotional support as required.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries throughout the course of all support provided.
  • Maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders, including team leaders, peers, and management.
Requirements

This role will be ideal for candidates with:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with individuals and team members.
  • A passion and enthusiasm for care and support work in the disability sector.
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Certificate III Individual Support or equivalent (preferred).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willing to obtain).
  • Covid Infection Control Certificate (completed previously or willing to obtain).
  • NSW Driver's Licence.
  • Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates.

In addition, our ideal candidate will also:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Mental health first aid training.
  • Medication management training.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors.
  • Manual handling experience, including hoisting.

A background experience assisting people with bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and intellectual disability will be highly regarded.

Reliability and punctuality are essential to see success in this role. An empathetic and nurturing attitude is necessary to ensure the needs of every individual are looked after with care. Professional and concise communication skills, ability to work independently, and follow instructions are also essential. Strong candidates will have experience in a variety of settings within the disability services industry, as well as demonstrated experience working with people with a variety of disabilities from a range of backgrounds.
