Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Law to join our academic team at Regent College London. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, student support, and academic management within the School of Higher Education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Management:
- Develop and implement a work allocation model for the team.
- Establish effective reporting mechanisms for staff and student progress.
- Ensure the academic process is assured and implemented in line with Regent College London's policies and awarding bodies' requirements.
- Perform line management functions for assigned staff.
- Support staff development processes for assigned staff.
- Participate in recruitment and induction processes for staff and students as required.
- Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development.
- Student Support:
- Act as the first senior point of academic contact for assigned students.
- Collaborate with the Centre for Student Operations, Student Finance Officer, and ARWA Officer teams to support students and ensure support plans are available.
- Ensure student voice is heard and academic needs are managed.
- Address student engagement or performance issues, signposting students to specialist College services as necessary.
- Field pastoral requirements from students, signposting them to relevant specialist College services as necessary.
- Monitor individual students' Learning Support Plans, liaising with specialist services as necessary.
- Teaching:
- Have a reduced teaching load given the student support responsibility.
- Design and deliver teaching materials across a range of modules or within a subject area.
- Produce detailed Schemes of Work, aimed at academic review and monitored by the Programme Leader.
- Be responsible for student submissions, ensuring 90% of students submit on time.
- Be responsible for student achievement and KPIs set up in line with Regent College London.
- Prepare module evaluation reports and contribute to Annual Monitoring Reports and Programme Evaluations.
- Assessment and Marking:
- Provide timely and constructive formative feedback to students.
- Produce and mark summative assessments according to the approved assessment brief and provide timely and constructive feedback to students within published deadlines.
- Identify cases of possible academic misconduct and escalate them according to the relevant procedure, providing support where necessary.
- Review module assessments to ensure they align with awarding body expectations.
- Review and update assessments for each new academic year, as needed.
- Prepare and monitor External Examiner and Assessment Board Reports.
- Contribute to the Annual Monitoring Report.
- Scholarship:
- Engage with scholarship within the School, ensuring its impact is evident in the classroom.
- Support the School in its plans and in line with Regent College London's Scholarship Plan.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a strong academic background, excellent teaching and communication skills, and experience in academic management and student support. They will also have a DBS check as part of the application process.
