Your role will primarily involve collaborating with a diverse range of professionals and our extensive pharmacist team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the medicines management team, with direct line management for a group of at least 15 staff members of varying grades
  • Conducting individual performance reviews, staff management, and policy evaluations
  • Assisting the senior medicines management team with service development initiatives
  • Line managing the Senior support workers within your team and fostering their development
  • Maintaining your ward-based role as a medicines management technician and accredited checking technician

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science, or equivalent. Technician registered with GPhC.
  • One of the following additional specialist pharmacy qualifications: Recognized accuracy checking qualification/accreditation, Medicines management qualification, TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification, CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience in operational management of staff and workload.
  • Extensive post-qualification pharmacy knowledge/experience in one or more areas of pharmacy specialization.
  • Experience in staff management/operational workload and workforce supervision.
  • Recruitment and selection experience.
  • Competence in the accurate supply of medicines (in hospital or community pharmacy).
  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing CPD and personal and professional development.
  • Experience in addressing and resolving customer/patient complaints.
  • Familiarity with ESR and E-rostering systems.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in leading a team.
  • One of the following additional specialist pharmacy qualifications: Recognized accuracy checking qualification/accreditation, Medicines management qualification, TAQA assessor or equivalent teaching/training qualification, CIPS level 4 Foundation management or equivalent demonstrable experience in operational management of staff and workload.
  • Quality/Service improvement qualification.
  • Awareness of current professional regulations/issues.
  • Experience with JAC or similar computer stock control systems.
  • Experience in service development and/or design and implementation of audits.
  • Experience relevant to the role applied for, including logistics, providing a ward-based medicines management service, clinical trials or research experience, aseptic services experience.
