Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Planning Specialist to join our team at Skilled Careers. As a Construction Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for providing a complete construction planning service at pre-qualification, preconstruction, and construction stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pre-qualification stage: Provide outline programmes, logistic plans, and methodologies to clients and client representatives.
  • Preconstruction stage: Develop detailed tender construction programmes from first principles, including method statements for inclusion in Bid submissions.
  • Construction stage: Provide a contract planning service, including development of contract programmes, target programmes, close-out programmes, and procurement schedules. Monitor progress, attend progress meetings, issue progress reports, and reprogram as required by the planning brief.
  • Project coordination: Promote the company at pre-qualification, tender, and contract interviews, presentations, and meetings. Undertake independent project progress reporting, including analysis of outcomes and providing feedback to project teams and senior management.
  • Subcontractor management: Review subcontractors' programmes and collaborate with all stakeholders, both internal and external.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Visit sites to assess conditions and constraints for preparing tender programmes and method statements.
  • Assess requirements and provide comprehensive scaffold, hoist, and crane schedules for obtaining competitive and realistic quotations.
  • Provide information release schedules to the contract team.
  • Compile comparative programmes for substantiation of claims or in disputes.
  • Support and mentor junior members of the team in a supporting role when allocated.

Requirements:

  • Experience in construction planning on various projects, including new build, refurbishment, and fit-out.
  • Ideal experience in tendering and preconstruction.
  • Ability to manage multiple project programmes simultaneously.
  • Good contractual awareness and commercial acumen.
  • The ability to build construction programmes from first principles.
  • Resource and logistics knowledge and its impact on the programme.
  • Proficiency in ASTA Planning software (training available for transfer from other planning software).
  • Awareness of individual Health and Safety responsibilities and adherence to company health and safety policy and procedures.
