We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Practitioner to become a vital member of our established Physiotherapy Team within the Community Respiratory Services. This role focuses on delivering essential support to patients with chronic respiratory conditions, particularly those experiencing severe COPD.

The Community Respiratory Team is committed to preventing hospital admissions and facilitating safe discharges for patients. Our approach involves visiting patients in their own homes, ensuring they receive personalized care tailored to their needs.

As an Assistant Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in promoting patient independence and enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support for breathlessness and anxiety management
  • Engaging in rehabilitation activities
  • Assessing and providing necessary equipment

Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with a range of healthcare professionals, including Respiratory Consultants, General Practitioners, Nurses, Psychologists, Pharmacists, and emergency services. Additionally, you will liaise with third sector organizations to enhance patient support.

It is essential for candidates to possess a valid PVG Scheme membership for the relevant regulatory group. If you are not currently a member, an application will need to be submitted to Disclosure Scotland prior to commencing the role.

NHS Lothian is committed to inclusivity and will provide full support to disabled candidates and those with long-term conditions or neurodivergent needs by making reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
