We are currently seeking a skilled Quantitative Research Specialist to join our esteemed Research Centre for Health (ReaCH) within the School of Health & Life Sciences. This multidisciplinary team is renowned for its significant contributions to public health research, particularly in the evaluation of interventions related to blood borne viruses (BBVs), sexual health, and substance use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a major study funded by the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) aimed at assessing the population-level effects of existing and innovative interventions to mitigate drug-related fatalities.
- Conduct thorough analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data sourced from Public Health Scotland databases.
- Collaborate with a network of partners, including academic institutions and public health organizations.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant Master's degree (e.g., public health, epidemiology, statistics) or equivalent experience. A strong background in epidemiological analysis and proficiency in statistical modeling techniques is essential. Experience with large, complex datasets and expertise in statistical software such as R or Stata is required.
We value a growth mindset, initiative, and the ability to engage in self-directed learning. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities are crucial for success in this role.
Desirable Attributes:
A PhD in a relevant field and experience in publishing peer-reviewed scientific studies are advantageous. An interest in substance use and its associated challenges will be beneficial.
