Job Title: Consultant Obstetrician

We are seeking a skilled Consultant Obstetrician to provide expert care to patients with complex obstetric problems at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert opinions on patients with a wide range of complex obstetric problems, taking independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients referred to our tertiary centre.
  • Deliver high-quality patient care, including elective Caesarean section lists, to ensure prospective cover at times of colleagues' absences.
  • Contribute to the administrative duties in relation to the care of patients and the running of the Department of Obstetrics, in cooperation with the Heads of Department, Directorate Manager, and Clinical Director.
  • Participate in the clinical supervision of all postgraduate trainees in the department, with specific responsibility for a small number of individuals as educational supervisor.
Requirements:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Completion of specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • Experience in providing expert care to patients with complex obstetric problems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
