Senior Control Systems Engineer - Job Summary:

A world-leading manufacturer of automated machinery is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team. Located in the heart of the Midlands, the company has been a leading supplier of complex special purpose machines throughout Europe since 2005.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with Controls Engineers, Applications Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to provide machine control system solutions for the effective operation of special purpose machinery.
  2. Design, develop, and/or review, code, test, and debug system software, including machine start-up and debug.
  3. Integrate and validate new product designs.
  4. Support software QA.
  5. Interface with hardware design and development.
  6. Interpret controls systems requirements from customer specifications, project scope documents, and technical execution documents.
  7. Develop technical and electrical controls systems requirements.
  8. Develop machine sequence and control flow charts.
  9. Develop Human Machine Interface programs for machine control.
  10. Develop design documentation, including theory of operation, help files, machine set-up and operation instructions, and detailed technical specifications.
  11. Provide technical support to Service Technicians and customers, as needed.
  12. Participate in efforts for the design, architecture, and programming conventions of Controls applications and be a key player in the improvement process of existing designs.
  13. Advocate, maintain, and train to Controls programming standards, verification, and validation methods and techniques.
Requirements:
  1. Proficiently utilize programming languages and methods, including Ladder Logic and ST/SCL for machine control.
  2. Proficiently integrate safety control systems and methods using Siemens and Allen Bradley technologies to comply with ISO machine design and safety standards.
  3. Create, read, and edit electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control station layouts, electrical enclosure panel layouts, BOM, and all electrical control hardware-related documentation.
  4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  6. Self-starter - the ability to work independently without continual supervision.
  7. Attention to detail.
  8. Results-driven and goal-oriented.
  9. Computer literate (ACAD, MS Office, CRM, email, and internet/intranet).
  10. Focused, detail-oriented team member with high standards and a solid work ethic.
  11. Strong desire and drive to succeed.
  12. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  13. Willingness to travel.
Preferred Skills:
  1. PLC/Motion Control Programming with the following platforms: Simotion Scout / Logix Designer / Studio 5000 / TIA Portal.
  2. HMI Design with the following platforms: WinCC / FactoryTalk View Studio / FactoryTalk Optix.
  3. SINUMERIK configuration experience.
  4. Programming in S7-GRAPH / Sequential Function Chart.
  5. Electrical schematic and panel design using ePLAN.
