Senior Bookkeeper Job Description

TPF Recruitment is representing a modern independent firm of Chartered Accountants based in Henley-on-Thames. Our client is a dynamic and innovative company dedicated to providing bespoke accountancy and tax advisory services to a diverse clientele including SMEs, high net worth individuals, and large multinational corporations. Their mission is to guide clients through the ever-evolving financial landscape and support them in achieving their business and personal goals as their trusted advisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily bookkeeping using Xero accounting software, including invoice processing and bank reconciliations.
  • Review bookkeeping work prepared by junior team members.
  • Reconcile control accounts.
  • Post monthly wages journals.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts to a high standard.
  • Prepare and file monthly and quarterly VAT returns under various VAT schemes.
  • Prepare and file monthly CIS returns.
  • Liaise with clients on queries and submissions.
  • Provide training to clients on Xero.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc duties as required.
Requirements
  • Recent and relevant bookkeeping experience, including preparing and submitting VAT returns and reconciling control accounts.
  • Experience in preparing management accounts is desirable, but training will be provided.
  • AAT qualified.
  • Xero certified.
  • Hands-on, diligent, and able to demonstrate excellent client interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and drive.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
