About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk and Controls Associate to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a Risk and Controls Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting our Technology Leaders and Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in operating and executing effective controls and making informed risk-based decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support risk and control assessments to inform strategic change decision making
  • Analyse incidents and loss events to identify root causes and opportunities for control improvements
  • Deliver work through building positive relationships across key stakeholders, including Platform Managers, Engineers, Architects, IT Service Managers, Product Owners, and Programme Managers
  • Understand and apply our Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Policy landscape
About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in risk management, technology, and change. You will need to operate autonomously, working collaboratively across risk partnering, and be able to adapt to a challenging and changing environment through a growth mindset.

  • Working experience and understanding in one or more areas of risk management as it relates to Technology, Information Security, and Transformation
  • Knowledge of risk management, risk reporting, and controls assessments either through a role within the three lines of defence (Audit, Risk, or 'First line') or managing technology projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information to a mixture of audiences and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • Analytical skills, able to interpret and report on complex data and identify trends and present alternative solutions and recommendations
  • Ability to network and collaborate across teams and functions
  • Possess or willing to work towards an industry-recognised professional qualification relevant to the role
