Job Summary:

The Yard Crewmember will assist customers in the lumberyard, operate a forklift, stock products, and provide general store support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Greet customers as they enter the yard, respond to their questions, and inform store management of any customer complaints or requests.
  • Product Handling: Load and unload products into customers, vendors, and company vehicles safely and accurately, verify customer or vendor ticket matches the merchandise being loaded.
  • Warehouse Operations: Move, stock, and rearrange building materials in the yard, warehouse, and interior of the store, perform routine safety checks on forklifts according to company guidelines.
  • General Support: Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the lumberyard and warehouses, cut lumber and other related materials as requested by customers, operate a forklift, and attend all store meetings and training sessions.
Requirements:
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Certifications: Forklift operator certification is required.
  • Skills: Ability to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervision, knowledge of weight distribution and loading patterns, and the ability to adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle quickly and repeatedly to exact positions.
Physical Demands:
  • Work Environment: Prolonged periods of standing and moving around the yard and warehouse, ability to work in various types of weather.
  • Physical Abilities: Must be able to use the three-point hold when getting into trucks and/or forklifts, lift up to 80 pounds at times, occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds, and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
