Warehouse Operations Team Leader

London, Greater London, United Kingdom Gripvan Full time
Position Overview

We are seeking a well-organized, efficient, and approachable Team Leader to join our dynamic lighting rental company. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the warehouse or kitroom of a rental service, studio, or a similar environment, and be prepared to embrace the responsibilities of a team leader with a proactive mindset.

We encourage applications from women and individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, as they are currently under-represented in leadership roles at Gripvan.

The role operates on a shift basis, which will be arranged collaboratively with fellow team leaders. Typically, shifts are structured as Early (7am-4pm) or Late (10am-7pm), alternating weekly. Flexibility for additional hours may be necessary on occasion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the kitroom team in enhancing efficiency by identifying and eliminating obstacles in workflow.
  • Collaborate with other team leaders to support the Operations Manager in refining systems to boost time efficiency and manage rental and sales inventory effectively.
  • Adopt a hands-on approach, which includes driving our fleet vehicles for deliveries and collections, as well as loading, unloading, preparing, and inspecting equipment.
  • Ensure that preparation and de-preparation processes are executed promptly and accurately, following up on any missing or damaged items.
  • Conduct annual and on-demand inventory checks to report stock levels to management in a timely manner.
  • Recruit, interview, and oversee casual (freelance) staff to bolster the core warehouse team, ensuring Gripvan's high standards are consistently upheld.
  • Work alongside the Operations Manager and Financial Controller to facilitate necessary repairs, upgrades, and maintenance of equipment utilized by the warehouse team.
  • Conduct PAT testing on equipment and provide training to others on this process (initial training will be provided if necessary).
  • Promote high recycling rates within the warehouse and strive for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Attributes

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a lighting or camera kitroom or warehouse team, or at least 1 year in a supervisory/team leader role in a comparable setting.
  • Unrestricted right to work in the UK, currently residing in the UK.
  • A clean UK driving license, with experience driving vans in urban areas preferred.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • While we prioritize safety and comfort, the role involves lifting and transporting heavy and sometimes cumbersome equipment, thus physical fitness is required.
  • Able and willing to ride a bicycle.

Demonstrable Skills:

  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Consistent punctuality and time management.
  • Confident in taking responsibility and capable of delegating tasks to team members or referring to management as necessary.
  • Adaptable and able to shift priorities quickly to accommodate changing workloads and client demands.
  • A collaborative team player who can lead effectively while also engaging in daily warehouse tasks.
  • Friendly and professional demeanor, capable of interacting with a diverse range of personalities, including clients, crew, and team members.
  • A genuine commitment to sustainable practices, aiming to minimize waste and reduce our environmental impact.

Desirable Skills:

  • An interest in Photography and Moving Image Advertising production.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Procurement experience.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Excel/Numbers, and Current RMS.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: £30,000-36,000 based on experience.

Pension: We provide an auto-enrollment pension plan with a 4% contribution based on your full salary.
