Job Overview

Position - Urban Planning Lead

We are in search of a Planning Lead to collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities

In this position, you will partner with the Group Planning Director to manage a varied portfolio of planning-related tasks, working closely with Port Directors and the Property and Project Teams to facilitate the execution of strategic business objectives across Peel Ports Group. You will oversee all phases of the planning process for port-related projects, from initial discussions to the submission and successful approval of planning applications.

You will take charge of preparing Port Master Plans and associated studies/assessments while fostering effective stakeholder engagement. Additionally, you will assist Port Directors with all regulatory planning aspects of their operations, managing and supporting the submission of permitted development projects. You will also lead the drafting of written responses to national and local planning and related policy consultations.

What You Bring

Candidates should possess prior experience working with Local Planning Authorities and hold (or be nearing completion of) a MRTPI qualification. You will have substantial experience in development management, along with expertise in the planning application/EIA process. As an excellent communicator, you will be adept at presenting to both internal and external stakeholders and influencing decision-making.

Strong community and stakeholder management experience is essential, as is the ability to juggle multiple development projects simultaneously. Given the nature of this role, occasional travel to other sites within the Group across the UK may be required.
