Position Overview: NRL Recruitment is seeking a Senior Commissioning Specialist to oversee commissioning activities within the Energy from Waste sector. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards throughout the commissioning process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate the HZI and contractor teams to adhere to project HSEQ protocols.
  • Integrate all pertinent HSEQ requirements into the commissioning process in collaboration with site management and the commissioning team.
  • Review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to ensure alignment with HSEQ standards, ensuring all work is executed in accordance with these documents.
  • Oversee the safety and HSE performance of all team members, with the authority to halt operations if safety is at risk.
  • Ensure that commissioning tasks are completed in line with contractual obligations, project timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Supervise commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with approved designs and standards.
  • Coordinate with project team members, including the Commissioning Manager and Erection Supervisors, to ensure timely delivery of commissioning works.
  • Maintain regular communication with the engineering department to facilitate project progress.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor activities on-site, ensuring alignment with project schedules and requirements.
  • Conduct necessary tests on-site as dictated by the functional specifications of the plant or equipment.
  • Engage with third-party authorities regarding testing protocols for the plant.
  • Document all commissioning activities in the PIRS database, ensuring records are current and comprehensive.
  • Compile and archive all quality assurance documentation related to commissioning efforts.
  • Provide insights and feedback for continuous improvement in current and future projects.
  • Keep the Commissioning Manager and Site Manager updated on all relevant activities.

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or Process Engineering background with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven expertise in commissioning Power Waste to Energy facilities, particularly in Flue Gas Treatment (FGT).
  • Demonstrated leadership in HSEQ management with a solid understanding of applicable legal requirements.
  • Possession of a valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong command of the English language; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
