Postdoctoral Research Position in Covid-19 Modelling

The International Society for Bayesian Analysis is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associate or Fellow to join our team in Exeter, UK. As a key member of our interdisciplinary group, you will contribute to the development of an automatic calibration system for Metawards, a high-resolution Covid-19 simulation model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an automatic calibration system for Metawards using government data streams
  • Forecast short and medium-term evolution of Covid-19 in the UK using the calibrated model
  • Implement a data assimilation system for the calibrated model to seed local outbreaks and generate real-time forecasts
  • Design and deliver tutorial materials and workshops to embed uncertainty quantification in other modelling groups

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. epidemiology, statistics, computer science)
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R
  • Experience with Bayesian methods and uncertainty quantification
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
