Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Anesthesiology Specialist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Locum Consultant Community Paediatrician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pediatric anesthesia services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to pediatric patients undergoing anesthesia and surgery
  • Develop and implement clinical guidelines and protocols for pediatric anesthesia
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior medical staff and students
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects
Requirements
  • FRCA accreditation in the Royal College of Anaesthetists or equivalent
  • Higher specialist training or equivalent in pediatric anesthesia
  • Experience in pediatric anesthesia and clinical trials
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of our patients. The postholder will be required to participate in on-call rotas and attend departmental meetings and audit sessions.

Accountability

The postholder will be managerially accountable to the Chief Executive and professionally accountable to the Chief Medical Officer through Clinical Directors.

Standards of Conduct and Behaviour

The postholder will be required to work to the standards set out by the General Medical Council in Good Medical Practice.

Leave Arrangements

All leave should be applied for in accordance with the Trust's Leave Policy, normally giving six weeks notice of any leave, other than in exceptional circumstances.

Training and Development

The Trust fully supports the requirement for Continuing Medical Education (CME) by the relevant Royal College and acknowledges that it is an essential component of a consultant's professional activities.

Health and Safety

The Trust has a responsibility to provide a safe working environment for all staff. This will require the postholder to comply with the Trust arrangements for Health and Safety and Risk Management.
