Job Title: Principal Systems IVVQ Lead

Ultra is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems IVVQ Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Systems Engineering function, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of complex systems solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full life cycle verification and validation activities for complex solutions, ensuring compliance with Systems Engineering/V&V standards.
  • Create and maintain Systems V&V artefacts, including Strategies, Plans, Procedures, Matrices, and Reports, to ensure progressive assurance of desired outcomes.
  • Carry out Systems V&V activities in accordance with Systems V&V artefacts, ensuring successful completion of internal, qualification, and acceptance events.
  • Support Environmental Qualification activities for Ultra Cyber, including in-house and external test houses.
  • Transfer knowledge to System Engineers to support environmental testing (end-to-end process) at both internal and external events.
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of supporting test equipment.
  • Ensure all safety aspects relating to V&V events and facilities used by the project.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to improving processes, tools, and techniques to increase engineering quality and efficiency.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and support to the wider engineering team.
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security Aspects and Government regulations.

Essential Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

  • Extant/recent SC security clearance.
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK to support external stakeholders, test houses, and customers.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain DV security clearance.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or sufficient applicable defence industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering/V&V experience of solutions formed of Hardware, Software, and Firmware components.
  • Demonstrable experience of INCOSE/ISO 15288 Systems Engineering of complex solutions.

Desirable Responsibilities:

  • Design special-to-type test equipment to meet diverse requirements generated across multi-concurrent projects.
  • Contribute to safety and security of test environments, including laboratories, and build a business case to ensure suitable availability.
  • Familiarity with environmental facilities and their operation under the guidance of the environmental test team.
  • Assess tasks to define Basis of Estimate costing for bid and change processes.
  • Actively review professional publications, champion Systems Engineering/V&V industry standards, and actively participate in related professional organisations.

Desirable Qualifications/Skills/Requirements:

  • INCOSE member – ASEP/CSEP.
  • ISTQB attained.
  • Experience in test automation, frameworks, and marriage with manual testing for an overall test campaign.
  • Scripting languages: JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Rest, MySQL.
  • Development approaches: Agile, SCRUM, Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD), hybrid, and similar models.
