About the Role

CMC Markets is seeking a highly skilled Senior FIX Engineer to join our Institutional Core Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining ultra-low latency FIX APIs that provide connectivity to our global multi-asset trading platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement ultra-low latency FIX APIs to handle real-time market data distribution to customers
  • Develop and maintain mission-critical systems with a high degree of fault tolerance
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers to build and maintain FIX APIs
  • Provide on-call technical support outside of regular working hours

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of the FIX messaging protocol
  • Strong understanding of low latency programming principles, including garbage reduction, lock and wait free algorithms, cache friendly algorithms, non-blocking I/O, unshared state, processor affinity, busy waiting
  • Experience with Artio FIX engine, Aeron Transport, Aeron Cluster, and Simple Binary Encoding (SBE)
  • Proven track record of building robust mission-critical systems
  • Passion for problem-solving and innovation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with automated unit and integration testing, CI/CD

Desirable Skills:

  • Microservice design and implementation
  • Java and Linux performance testing and optimization
  • Good understanding of transport protocols TCP/IP, UDP
  • Exposure to electronic trading systems and trading workflows
