Position Overview
We are pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a Lead Physiotherapy Specialist to become a vital member of our Therapy Team, dedicated to delivering exceptional care within our elderly care units.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated and proactive Physiotherapist with substantial NHS postgraduate experience across various core specialties, including acute assessment, geriatric evaluation, respiratory care, and orthopaedics.
Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to exhibit advanced clinical reasoning capabilities and effectively manage patients with intricate needs. Experience in mentoring students and junior staff is a crucial requirement.
We offer numerous opportunities for professional growth, innovative practices, and contributions to service enhancement.
You will receive ongoing professional support for your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) from the Band 7 Therapy Team and Clinical Leaders, as well as guidance from Senior Therapists in other specialties as needed.
This role may also involve collaboration with other inpatient therapy teams to provide senior-level therapy support.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat a designated caseload of patients/clients within a specialty while maintaining accurate records.
- Oversee the training and development of physiotherapy staff, students, and other personnel in this specialty. Supervise less experienced physiotherapists, assistants, and students.
- Actively participate as a member of the therapy team and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) within a specified clinical area.
- Take responsibility for your own CPD and engage in other developmental activities.
- Contribute to identifying and executing departmental audits, research, or service development initiatives.
- Participate in weekend, evening, and Bank Holiday on-call duties for acute respiratory patients.
- Engage in providing 7-day services and extended working hours as required by the service.

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Graduate Diploma or BSc in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification recognized by the HCPC.
- HCPC registration.
- A minimum of 18 months of experience as a staff-grade physiotherapist.
- Relevant experience as a qualified physiotherapist or previous care experience.
- Core rotations in various areas: Respiratory (including HDU/ICU), Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Neurological Rehabilitation.
Desirable
- Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or a similar organization.
