Finance Apprentice

Joining Play Sports Network as a Finance Apprentice will grant you valuable experience and insight into the broader business landscape. You will cultivate skills and knowledge across a diverse array of financial tasks; additionally, you will have the chance to contribute to process enhancements as the organization continues to evolve and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing business expense reports and communications
  • Processing E-Commerce transactions
  • Establishing new supplier accounts
  • Reconciling supplier statements and maintaining effective supplier communications
  • Handling purchase invoices, ensuring alignment with purchase orders, timely payments, and resolution of any queries
  • Generating sales ledger invoices, assisting with credit control, and nurturing customer relationships
  • Reconciling revenue streams and aligning costs
  • Addressing finance-related queries sent to the finance email, ensuring timely responses
  • Assisting finance management with month-end procedures, including revenue recognition, cost analysis, and other financial entries
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in maintaining a consistent control environment
  • Contributing to year-end closing and audit processes
  • Performing other ad hoc tasks as needed

Qualifications and Skills for Success

  • Currently pursuing or working towards a finance qualification (e.g., AAT)
  • Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within the finance team and across the organization
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Broad exposure to various finance activities
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a media or business services setting
  • Familiarity with Sage accounting software
  • Understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Proactive and supportive approach
  • Willingness to engage in office-based duties to collaborate with the wider team
