Role Overview
The primary focus of this position is to oversee all automated and building-related systems, contributing to the operational goals of the Distribution Center (DC). This role requires providing technical expertise for daily reactive issues and developing solutions to recurring challenges. A comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control principles is essential to maintain high standards, ensuring maximum asset uptime and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the main responder for complex technical issues.
- Assist with infrastructure upgrades and modifications to DC assets.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or control systems.
- Install, modify, repair, and test electrical services as needed.
- Work independently on various projects and assignments.
- Collaborate with contractors, service providers, and fellow maintenance personnel.
- Operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
- Complete work requests and assigned projects efficiently.
- Adapt to changing priorities and respond flexibly to on-call emergencies.
- Engage in cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues with innovative solutions.
- Keep management and colleagues informed about on-shift issues and updates on assignments.
- Be available and flexible to support operational changes.
- Participate in a rotating weekly schedule of morning and afternoon shifts.
- Conduct audits and quality checks on PIE, conveyor systems, and building assets.
- Lead by example and assist in the development of junior technicians.
- Provide support during major breakdowns and cover for absences.
- Identify and efficiently complete maintenance tasks within time constraints.
- Develop a personal growth plan to enhance knowledge across all areas.
- Continuously seek improvements in internal processes and documentation.
- Adhere to safety protocols and training guidelines in all work activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a recognized apprenticeship in an engineering discipline.
- Qualification in an electrical discipline is preferred.
- Experience with automated conveyor systems and facility management equipment.
- Ability to self-manage and prioritize workload effectively.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Experience in fault finding within a live environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Organized with the ability to handle administrative tasks.
