Job Title: Senior Trading Standards Officer

As a key member of our Trading Standards team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of business conduct across the borough. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving compliance and promoting a culture of excellence among local businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections and investigations to identify non-compliance and ensure businesses meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to prevent non-compliance and promote best practices among businesses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to share knowledge and best practices, driving continuous improvement in our services.
  • Provide guidance and support to field staff, ensuring they have the necessary tools and expertise to discharge their duties effectively.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in trading standards and regulatory compliance, applying this knowledge to inform our services and improve outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in trading standards or a related field, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and business conduct.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with businesses and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meet the demands of the role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues.
