Job Overview

Salary Package: £43,750pa to approximately £54,650pa based on qualifications and experience. As a Senior Architect, you will assist the Station Lead Architect in serving as the design client liaison with the Station Integrated Project Team (IPT) and the engineering design teams of the Station Design and Build Contractor. Your role will involve ensuring that requirements and specifications are met while applying the HS2 Design Vision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and assist the Lead Architect in all facets of project execution. The Lead Architect serves as the technical authority and subject matter expert (SME) for all architectural and design-related issues concerning the station.
  • Provide specialized technical expertise and support for architecture and design disciplines, contributing to the delivery support for the HS2 organization.
  • Assist in the formulation of technical scope inputs for procurement and evaluate tender submissions.
  • Review architectural and design-related requirements from design suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Address architecture Requests for Information.
  • Contribute technical insights for Planning Application packages and conditions closure.
  • Collaborate with various contractors' designers to prepare for formal Independent Design Review Panel assessments and coordinate responses to recommendations.
  • Support the integration of architecture and design disciplines with other project disciplines and delivery teams, including civil engineering, landscape, rail systems, environment, third-party interfaces, and construction logistics.
  • Act as a guardian for the design concept throughout its development and construction phases.
  • Work alongside the Phase 1 Engineering Team during detailed design and construction by Design & Build contractors to ensure adherence to project specifications and requirements.
  • Secure design approvals and sign-offs.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role.
  • Serve as a custodian for the HS2 Design Vision.
  • Manage interfaces across individual delivery units to ensure design consistency.
  • Collaborate within the project team to identify and mitigate risks while capturing opportunities.
  • Promote and integrate Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all activities and adhere to organizational policies and initiatives regarding EDI.
Candidate Profile:

Skills:
  • Proficient in creating and presenting documents and reports to diverse audiences, including internal stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Capable of delivering presentations that influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing work packages.
  • Adept at executing required work packages efficiently.
  • Strong ability to prioritize workload and manage work streams to meet established deadlines.
  • Focused on delivering high-quality design while managing multiple projects.
Knowledge:
  • Registered architect (ARB/RIBA).
  • Familiarity with relevant architectural and engineering standards, with the ability to interpret them in a railway/transportation context.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in delivering projects within a multi-disciplinary design and delivery environment.
  • Understanding of how architecture and design disciplines fit within the broader multi-disciplinary context and interdependencies.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary management team.
  • Proficient in project planning to meet deadlines.
