About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our community-based mental health service, you will be responsible for providing medical input to the Bristol Mental Health Assessment and Recovery South Team.

The successful candidate will have experience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting, with excellent written and oral communication skills. You will be able to manage your own time, workload, and prioritize clinical work, with a commitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.

The role involves supervising the medical team that provides medical care and acting as Responsible Clinician for service users in Supervised Community Treatment, in collaboration with other teams and Consultants. You will also be expected to undertake new assessments and medical follow-up assessments, as well as Recovery medical appointments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and treat patients in a community setting
  • Supervise the medical team and act as Responsible Clinician
  • Undertake new assessments and medical follow-up assessments
  • Participate in Peer supervision and contribute to the development of the team
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCT
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
