Oxford, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom University of Oxford Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced researcher to join our team as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.

The successful candidate will be part of the Wellcome Centre for Integrative Neuroimaging at the University of Oxford, working on a Wellcome Fellowship project led by Dr Clarke. The researcher will be responsible for their own research project within this research programme, focusing on developing a robust acquisition and reconstruction platform for 7T functional MRSI and diffusion MRSI.

The project will involve integrating with new custom analysis techniques, developed in the group, as part of an existing collaboration with the University of Oxford's Analysis Group. The researcher will also provide guidance and supervision to less experienced members of the research group, including junior postdocs, collaborators, and PhD and project students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead a research project in magnetic resonance spectroscopy, with a focus on 7T functional MRSI and diffusion MRSI.
  • Collaborate with the Analysis Group to integrate new custom analysis techniques into the research project.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to junior researchers, including postdocs, collaborators, and PhD and project students.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications.

Requirements:

  • PhD or DPhil in chemistry, physics, engineering, or a relevant discipline.
  • Post-qualification research experience (Grade 8).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MRI physics, particularly relevant to MRI or MRS sequence design.
  • Expertise in software programming using C++, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field.
  • Possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research projects and methodologies.
  • Ability to independently plan and manage a research project, including a research budget.
  • Ability to raise research funds through making grant applications.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in MRI pulse sequence development.
  • Understanding of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging.
  • Experience in human MR imaging and analysis.
  • Experience with developing open-science tools and software packages.
  • Experience of supervising staff.
  • Experience of managing a research project and budget.
  • Experience of making grant applications.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position until 3 years.
