Job Overview

We are in search of a skilled and knowledgeable Financial Accountant to become an integral part of our dynamic organization.

This essential position will ensure the precise and timely monthly consolidation, balance sheet verification, and the creation of insightful financial reports.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (or currently pursuing qualification) from a recognized institution, proficient in PowerBI and PowerQuery, and have substantial technical accounting expertise.

We seek an individual with a demonstrated history of success in a comparable role.

The successful applicant will possess outstanding analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capability to convey complex financial data to stakeholders across various levels.

Role Responsibilities

The Financial Accountant will be pivotal in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting processes.

The successful candidate will work alongside cross-functional teams to guarantee timely and precise financial reporting, while also identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing best practices.


Key Duties:
As a Financial Accountant or Financial Accountant (Assets) focusing on In-Year Reporting & Control, you will:

- Assist in the month-end processes and meetings for IT department consolidation, identifying causes for fluctuations and variances.

- Ensure essential month-end control assurance for forecasts and budgets, collaborating with Finance Management teams and HMRC Finance.

- Generate financial reporting packages, utilizing Power BI and Power Query, while driving continuous enhancements and automation.

- Oversee the recharges process, emphasizing continuous improvement, assurance, and automation.

- Monitor and challenge benefits and efficiency reporting.

- Deliver, track, and review asset assurance commissions, ensuring consistency and best practices in partnership with Finance Management teams.


- Manage the asset under construction (AUC) assurance processes and capitalisation, providing subject matter expertise and fostering relationships with the project finance community.

- Conduct balance sheet evaluations, including validation of accruals and prepayments across CDIO.

- Coordinate audit activities and ensure the collection of audit evidence.

- Provide assurance on commitments, provisions, and contingent liabilities.

- Maintain system structures, including the chart of accounts and approval hierarchy.

- Perform line management responsibilities.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:
- Fully qualified accountant with a CCAB qualification (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ACA) or currently pursuing one of these qualifications.

- Proficient in financial reporting tools such as PowerBI, PowerQuery, or advanced Excel.

- Proven experience in technical accounting and financial reporting.

- Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining strong working relationships with stakeholders.

- Experience in utilizing financial data to support strategic decision-making processes.

Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in asset management reporting.

- Previous experience in an IT/Digital function, particularly in financial roles.
