Job Overview

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organization, is seeking a highly skilled Junior Sous Chef to join their team. This is a contract position with a rate of £13.52/hour PAYE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring seamless execution of menu items and exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare and cook food to the highest standards, adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and front-of-house team to maintain a smooth and efficient service.
  • Operate the wood-fired pizza oven as required, contributing to the organization's culinary offerings.
  • Maintain accurate health and safety records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee food purchasing and storage, optimizing inventory management and minimizing waste.
  • Develop and implement menu plans, aligning with budgetary constraints and culinary trends.
  • Ensure a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, adhering to industry standards.
  • Monitor food preparation levels during peak and off-peak periods, adjusting operations accordingly.

Essential Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Catering
  • Minimum Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Highly organized, with exceptional planning and time management abilities
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A full driving license
