Are you a seasoned Cybersecurity Compliance Specialist seeking a new challenge?

Do you possess a comprehensive understanding of IT strategies and their implications for infrastructure?

Are you equipped with exceptional analytical abilities and a grasp of technical architectural challenges?

About Us

NHS 24 is Scotland's dedicated provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, delivering health advice and information through telephone and online platforms to the Scottish population around the clock. Our patient-centric service offers triage, guidance, referrals, and health information to the people of Scotland.

With six regional centers, NHS 24 embraces hybrid working, allowing this position to be based at any of our regional locations. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional center for potential attendance and must be willing to travel to other centers for meetings, training, and other necessary activities.

Role Overview

The Cybersecurity Compliance Specialist will oversee the coordination and implementation of ongoing reviews and enhancements of all NHS 24 systems to ensure compliance with security standards. This includes planning and executing comprehensive technology information security audits.

Additionally, this role will serve as the Lead Technical Security Authority within NHS 24, focusing on the three core areas of Information Assurance: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of all information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and uphold the Information Security Management System (ISMS) across the entire technical infrastructure of NHS 24.
  • Oversee the provision and applicability of NHS 24's technical disaster recovery solutions to guarantee data availability during adverse events.
  • Offer security expertise to NHS 24 projects to identify, manage, and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Provide input and guidance for all technology procurements to ensure NHS 24's security requirements are incorporated into contract specifications.
  • Deliver expert technical support to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses across all NHS 24 systems and infrastructure.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Possess a tertiary qualification in Information Security and substantial experience in a related role.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in Programme and Project Management as defined under PRINCE 2.
  • Have a solid understanding of IT strategies and their implications for infrastructure.
  • Exhibit excellent analytical skills with an understanding of technical architectural issues.
  • Show familiarity with Information Security & Governance laws and regulations, including the Data Protection Act and Computer Misuse Act.

Benefits

NHS 24 provides a comprehensive benefits package, offering a permanent contract on Band 7 with a salary range of £46,244 to £53,789 per annum (pro rata if applicable). Placement on the salary scale is contingent upon verification of previous relevant NHS service.

We also provide numerous supportive policies to enhance your employee experience, including a robust Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary opportunities, and a variety of learning and development options. As an NHS Scotland employee, you will enjoy:

  • 35 days of annual leave (increasing to 41) pro-rata.
  • Development opportunities, including study bursaries, e-learning, and classroom-based courses.
  • Enhanced pay for working on public holidays.
  • Enrollment in the Scottish Public Pensions Agency (SPPA) pension scheme.
  • NHS discounts on various goods and services.
  • Employee support and assistance through HELP.

This position represents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual seeking a challenging and rewarding role that contributes to the success of a public organization.

We are proud participants in the Disability Confident Leader Scheme and guarantee interviews for all disabled applicants who meet the minimum essential criteria for our vacancies.
