Job Title: Field Engineer - Coatings Specialist

Morson Talent is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Field Engineer - Coatings Specialist to join our client's established team on a major infrastructure project in Somerset.

This is a site-based contract position, working within the constraints of the NEC contract and IR35 regulations.

Job Purpose / Overview

The Field Engineer - Coatings Specialist will be responsible for activities in the field related to Construction Surveillance, forming part of a team with the primary role to deliver NEC Supervisor duties described in the NEC contract.

The successful candidate will ensure that Project Quality needs, targets, and expectations are realized, working closely with the Construction Superintendent for day-to-day guidance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Surveillance of quality compliance within the designated section of the Works in accordance with Project surveillance strategy requirements.
  2. Reporting and liaison responsibilities, including input into site-wide management issues and maintaining high-level interaction and coordination with other operational members of the site-wide team.
  3. Adherence to company policies, procedures, and protocols for construction, health & safety, and other functions.
  4. Proactive communication with other site teams, maintaining good communication links, and ensuring surveillance is timely reported.
  5. Contribution to surveillance information to support KPI indicators.
  6. Identification of potential Quality issues before they arise, enabling mitigating actions.
  7. Support for team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards.
  8. Development and maintenance of an understanding of construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans, and Quality Inspection Records.
  9. Review of Contractor performance against the authorized Quality Control Plan.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • ICorr or NACE Level 2 Painting Inspection qualifications (Level 3 as optional).
  • Significant industrial experience.
  • Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the building industry, materials, trades methods, and legal requirements.
  • Excellent organization, delegation, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience of writing diaries which are accurate, concise, and relevant to the particular form of contract.
  • Proven track record of working within a large construction team.
  • Good attention to detail when checking work and materials.
  • Able to establish effective working relationships with contractors.

Desirable qualifications include experience in the installation and erection of large Civil Works and Mechanical or Electrical plant, as well as a general understanding of the post's obligations under CDM Regulations.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, with excellent communication and organizational skills, and a strong attention to detail.
